With the change in LEGO Collectable Minfigures packaging from bags to cardboard boxes, it's become hard to impossible to get the figures you want without buying duplicates, but it turns out there actually is a reliable solution.
Although at first glance there aren't any visible differences on the new CMF boxes, an individual QR code can be found at the bottom of the box. At least the ones on newer/later produced boxes can be assigned to the individual figures!
So that you can find out which figure is inside the box, we've built a neat little tool for you: The Figure Finder!
Figure FinderHow to use it?
Here's a brief overview on how you can use it:
1. Locate the code on the bottom of the box and check whether it's the bigger or smaller one. Unfortunately only the big ones will work.
The good news is that the small codes were mostly used in earlier stages of production. Most newly produced boxes come with the bigger codes.
2. Open the Figure Finder scanner and scan the code. It will show you which Minifigure is inside!
Try itSupported CMFs
The Figure Finder currently works with all Series 25 boxes that have the bigger type of code on it.
Whether this method of finding Minifigures will continue to work for future series' remains to be seen. But if LEGO will keep the current type of packaging codes, we'll of course update the Figure Finder to support more new CMFs!
Let us know in the comments if it works for you or if you're experiencing any problems!
When I try and scan the codes, the camera is completely unable to focus. It's defaulting to my wide view camera which can't focus on nearby objects.
